MEMORIES OF GRAHAM RIGBY

Created by Rodney De Nysschen 14 years ago
The first time I met Graham has left an impression permanently etched into my brain. It was on a quiet road in a strange land where people drive on the wrong side of the road and talk funny. The 1st thought that barged it’s way through my mind was “my goodness, he looks just like Duncan!”. It was strangely reassuring and comforting to see a familiar face. As the evening wore on it became clearly evident that this was more than simply a family resemblance. The legendary Rigby warmth and hospitality presented itself in the over-catered braai (BBQ) and the seemingly endless supply of red wine. Spending the weekend with Graham brought memories of Duncan flooding back. Good memories, fond memories, memories of often inappropriate dinner conversations, memories of banter and teasing, memories of enjoying the simple pleasures of life – good food, good company. The Rigby brothers have left a huge hole in all of our lives – we will always miss them. They will always be alive in our collective memories and whenever we light a braai or open a bottle, whether together or alone, they will be remembered.
